This photograph was a gift from my favorite guy at the flea market -(park slope) and I love it. He stopped showing up in early summer last year. I’ve wondered and asked about him since and I found out a few weeks ago that he died. He took the photo at the Half Moon Hotel in Coney Island, I’m not sure when- 70’s or 80’s probably. He was a painter and photographer. I only new his first name – John. On an excursion in Prospect Park. I found this lichen, (I think it’s called trumpet lichen?) and another spiky sort, in a forest in CT last week. Don’t know what I did wrong lichen care wise but the last one I had dropped dead immediately. This time it’s in the terrarium and so far doing well and maybe even growing a little. I’ll keep you painfully up to date on my lichen’s progress and all the other very exciting things that happen in my terrarium. I have not abandoned the birds. I made three for the one in ten auction that I’ll post here soon and I promise there will be birds available in my shop in a little while including new bride and groom pairs. I’m still getting through current cake topper orders. This set was for Amy of Seamsters. She sent fabric she printed herself and I love her patchwork idea. I’m working on some patchwork pirate birds now. Another favorite photo from Tinlark. ( photographers name coming soon) It makes me wish I could take better pictures. I’ve started looking at beginning photography courses in new york this fall and any recommendations are welcome. The opening for the Modern Fable Show is this Saturday July 14th from 4-9. I’m leaving early tomorrow for LA to hang my ships and 100 horses ( and a couple other things). Come say hi. I’ve been wanting to make bird buttons forever and I finally did today. I’ll have some pirate jack buttons and magnets to give away on Saturday. I’m going to make a little limited edition set of pirate bird magnets and they’ll be in the shop soon. I’m outfitting The Antonia with new sails for the tinlark show. She’s almost done, maybe a picture later. A new ship for the Tinlark show, The Bonnie Prince Billy (you’re welcome to contact the gallery for purchase info on ships) I’ve been a slacker on my flea market reports lately I got this green pot a couple weeks ago. I love it, it’s my current favorite color. WIP: another sail for the Ginger Rose and some first thoughts on a new ship. A sail I’m working on for a new ship, the ginger rose. Work in progress for tinlark. The last daily bird for a while, at least until after the tinlark show. Rosey will be in the shop at 8PM EST. * I can’t take little bird orders right now. I wish I could but I’ve got to focus on things for the show and current orders. * * Cake topper orders are closed for June and July * * I’m getting off the 6 am photo program. It has served it’s purpose. The super early start is working well but taking the picture is a distraction. * *Paper mache- I use wheat paste, Golden Harvest wheat paste ( wall paper paste)* |
